Senior center Demarco Stepter goes up against Southeastern Louisiana forward Jason Marks. Stepter lead the team in scoring with 15 points.

DeMarco Stepter came up big Saturday afternoon with a team high 15 points as the Roadrunners were able to claim victory over Southeastern Louisiana 64-57. The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Roadrunners and improves their overall record to 13-8 (3-5 Conference).
The Roadrunners recent offensive struggles were a thing of the past as the team shot 46 percent from the field in the first half, and a much improved 75 percent from the free throw line.  Stepter dominated with his inside presence early, scoring the teams first four points and finishing the half with nine points and three rebounds in only 11 minutes of play. Freshman, Melvin Johnson III, added a spark from the bench scoring nine points all from beyond the arc, including a 26 ft. shot at the buzzer to close the half and give UTSA a 37-28 lead.
UTSA was able to continue its offensive flow in the second half and their defense improved as well.  The Lions first-half leading scorer, Patrick Sullivan (19pts/game), was held to only four points in the second half.  The Roadrunners defense did not allow any one player to score more than six points in the second half. Offensively, UTSA was able to share the basketball and attack from all sides as seven Roadrunners were able to score against Southeastern Louisiana’s defense.
UTSA finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field and 81 percent from the charity strip. Three Roadrunners were in double figures. UTSA was able to dominate the boards, out -rebounding Southeastern Louisiana 36-26. A notable standout for the Roadrunners was senior, Terry Fields. Fields tallied 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists for the game.
The next home game will be Feb 13. in the Convocation Center against UT-Arlington. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
