Commentary: One year to go until graduation

In one year I will graduate from UTSA and (hopefully) move on to bigger and better things. I came here in the fall of 2005 and after numerous classes, a change in majors and a few all-nighters, I have finally entered my last year of college.

Since this is my fifth year, I feel like I may have overstayed my welcome here. But at the end I will have completed a double major and that’s something to be proud of.

Normally as I prepare for a new semester I always have the same goals: study more, be more organized, attend every single class, etc. But this year I’ve decided to change my plan.
I, of course, want to do better in my classes so my study skills will improve. But I also want to experience the most out of UTSA that I can.

I have vowed to go to as many SI sessions, tutorials and study groups as I can. It certainly can’t hurt me.

I just started attending sporting events last year, and even then it was only for basketball. This year I’m going to try and see more of what the athletics department has to offer. I won’t be around for football, but I can still experience Roadrunner sports. Plus, it’s free. There is really no excuse  not to go.

I am also going  to try to make more friends in my classes. I normally keep to myself, but I’m going to change that this year. Not only will I have made a new acquaintance, but if I ever do need to miss a class, it will be easier to catch up if somebody can fill me in.

I look forward to what will come after graduation, but I hope that I can make my last year here one that I will be proud of.
