Last week’s letter by Nick Hargis was heavily opinionated. With his snappy, irrational, judgments I couldn’t help but think that he was “on edge” and that he “needed” a cigarette. He seemed to take a stance against both sides based on his annoyance with the bickering.
So I’m sitting outside the HSS today in “Smoker’s Alley,” minding my own business, willingly exposing my lungs to carbon monoxide and carcinogens, and knowingly putting myself at risk for various types of cancer by lighting up a cigarette.
This past week The Paisano recieved a hand-delivered letter to our office regarding to the “Vandals tag building” article published in the last issue. The writers chose to remain anonymous and signed the letter ‘Students with an Agenda.’
To Whom It May Concern, My apologies for the late response in regards to the November 10th publishing of the Paisano. I wanted to wait until the next issue in order to send out my response and, as it seems, the sentiments towards a very sensitive subject did not change.
I have been bothered by the smokers since I started at UTSA.
Last week as a Paisano staff member was distributing newspapers on campus, a fellow student came up to her and said two little words that completely caught her off guard.
Why isn’t UTSA a smoke free campus? Everyday I walk through the UTSA (courtyard) to the gagging inhalation of someone’s cigarette.
If you think it’s hard to be an English major, imagine, how difficult it is to be a successful English major. I have no clue what your article was meant to deal with.
I really hate smack talkers.
In a recent episode of “The Colbert Report” Stephen Colbert issued the Republicans a warning. “Watch out,” he said, “or Obama is going to get so bipartisan on your ass you won’t know what helped you.”
On Sept., 24 UTSA lost a member of its community; Elton Smith. The university’s 61 year-old publications director was shot and killed in his home.
Two of the biggest stories in the entertainment world this week are on the actions of two celebrities over the weekend.
Most talked about is the Kanye West/Taylor Swift incident at the Video Music Awards.
As Swift was accepting her award for Female Video of the Year, West came out of nowhere, took the mic from her and announced that Beyonce was more deserving of the award.
Skateboarding IS NOT A CRIME, and should not be classified as one. I am one of the many college students cruising around on a longboard (a longer version of a skateboard).
I have never hit anyone, but I have nearly been hit several times by people who aren’t paying attention to the pedestrians on their way to class. All forms of transportation have, some kind of danger level, whether its walking, driving or whatever.
I think it should be a crime! I don’t think that they should be allowed to use them on campus at all. It’s a hazard! People who use skateboards are permanetely attached to them. They use them in crowded areas and can’t keep from doing tricks on them. It’s habit!
Is your Dillard-Carroll review a joke?? I’m here at work reading The Paisano, and since I’ve got nothing else to do I figure I’ll give this Dillard-Carroll guy a listen. After hearing “Animal” and “I feel like dancin” I thought I was listening to the “What what in my butt” guy.
Recently, various town hall meetings were held by the United States of America Congressional Representatives concerning the current president of the United States of America’s “Health Care Reform.”
Parking sucks. We get it. It’s been this way for years and no matter what parking and transportation services does to “fix it,” it will always suck. It’s not really their fault; they’re just too many students in cars and not enough parking spaces.
It’s 102 degrees outside–again–but summer is definitely over, at least for students and faculty.
Books are being bought, syllabi are being created and alarm clocks are being set earlier. However, instead of starting this semester with a frown we should probably be glad we have the opportunity to still be in school.
My least favorite thing about this campus is the UTSAPD. But first, so you know, I come from a family of law enforcement–from my dad on down the line. Uncles, aunts, grandpa–they were all cops so I’m not just another guy who hates law enforcement, just UTSAPD.
n one year I will graduate from UTSA and (hopefully) move on to bigger and better things. I came here in the fall of 2005 and after numerous classes, a change in majors and a few all-nighters, I have finally entered my last year of college.

I decided that for my last commentary this year I would razz the UTSAPD just one more time. The last time I wrote about Mahoney and the gang it was about them not doing their job, but then I got to thinking, just what in the hell does the UTSAPD do anyway?

I absolutely love this country, issues and all. I really mean that, but at the same time I can’t think of a better place that typifies the concept of “freedom within limits.” Go ahead and think what you like; just don’t tell anybody unless what you’re thinking goes with the current trend.

In less than two weeks, I will accomplish a life-long goal: graduation. I have studied until I thought my eyeballs would fall out and have given so many presentations that PowerPoint is now second nature.
1. YAL Poll: ~75 percent of UTSA students approve of concealed carry 2. Video Survey: 58 percent of UTSA students feel favorably towards Texas Legislation to allow concealed carry on campus 3. Test Question: 80 percent of UTSA students feel guns make the campus unsafe 4.
I have experienced excessive conflicts with members of the church about my radical perceptions. For those who may not know, attending service weekly is not one of my strongest attributes.
As my term as President has come to an end, I look back on the year and am so proud to have been a part of Student Government. This year Student Government accomplished so much for the organization and for the student body. SGA passed five resolutions and three by-law changes. The SGA senate helped write new by-laws that will help the organization run smoother and be more productive.
