What about the Phi Mu investigation?
At the end of last semester The Office of Student Life began an investigation
of Phi Mu Sorority.
Under Section 7 of the Student Organization Relationship Statement, if a
Greek organization violates any rule or regulation imposed by the university or
administration, the dean of students will begin an investigation. By procedure,
he will either dismiss the accusation as unfounded or impose a penalty on the
violating organization. If the allegation isn’t dismissed, the dean will “summon
the authorized representatives of the organization for a conference” at which
they can respond to the allegations.
Kevin Price, dean of students, said that Phi Mu is under an official investigation
and that results of the investigation should be determined by the middle
to the end of January.
However Price has not responded to The Paisano’s repeated requests for an
interview or requests for information.
Who was the student who fell off the roof?
On Feb. 9, The Paisano reported that an unidentified man fell from the
fourth floor Biosciences Building. The man, who was described as an African-
American in his early 20’s, fell behind doctoral student Stacie Harris as she
approached the parking lot.
The Paisano has since learned that the man is a 21-year old pre-engeneering
major. He is also an underclassman. Marianne Lewis, UTSA director of public
affairs, said that his injuries were not life-threatening and he is now in recovery.
