I’m graduating in less than two weeks and what I thought would be my main concern–‘What should I wear?’–has now become, ‘Am I ready to leave?’
It’s not like my career as a student is over; I will be attending law school in the fall, which means I’ve got three more years. But sadly, my time as a college student is up.
Does this mean I have to act like a grown-up? Carry a briefcase to class with actual briefs and not someone else’s white briefs that somehow ended up in my bag from the party the night before?
Does my attire change?
Am I going to have to replace my hole-filled jeans with pleated slacks? Ugh, I hope not.
The truth is, if I could stick around longer, I probably would. I would take classes like history of rock and sculpting.
I would venture out into the unknown and talk to people I would normally never approach.
I’m starting to do that now, although during my freshman year, it was unthinkable.
College has been one of the most incredible and eye opening experiences in my life. Unfortunately, I didn’t settle into UTSA until my junior year.
With that said, freshman: Take hold of every experience that comes to you, because it may never present itself again! Find your niche and stick to it.
Trust me, you’ll find friends that stick with you when you’re singing one song at a karaoke bar, but the DJ’s playing another.
I know I have.
It’s time to say goodbye, though, to UTSA, my column, coming home after dawn and all the life lessons I’ve learned along the way.
But before I go, I have one more thing to say: Sarah Palin sucks.
