That Delivery Place is an online delivery company serving UTSA and surrounding areas, and their business has been in operation since September 9, 2009. Their popularity is growing as fans on their Facebook page declare their appreciation for their services.
“We deliver everything you need right to your door, so you do not have to leave the comfort of your home,” is their motto as seen on their web page.
That Delivery Place has two business partners: Rachel Hotard who has a master’s degree in accounting from UTSA, and Sami Kapadia, who has his bachelor’s degree in business adminstration.
Kapadia went to college on the east coast where he saw similar business models. After graduating college, he moved to San Antonio in hopes of opening a late night campus delivery service.
“We both knew we would have loved to use this business when we were in college! After graduating with my masters from UTSA in the spring, we decided to try to open our own business. Since I have spent a lot of time at UTSA and am already very familiar with the market, we thought it would be a great place for us to start,” Hotard said.
That Delivery Place stocks items you would most likely find in a convenience store, such as cigarettes and sour patch candies. Anyone in need of something they do not have but desperately need can either call That Delivery Place or place a request online.
Condoms, Hostess Donettes, blue books, cigarettes, hookah tobacco, and Tylenol are just a few things that you can request off their web site or by phone when you are iaren’t able to go to the store yourself.
So how do you place an order with That Delivery Place?

If you do not have access to the Internet or would prefer to pay with cash, you can place an order over the phone at (210) 5959-TDP. That Delivery Place will have your order delivered to your door in no time at all!
A key benefit to placing orders with That Delivery Place is that they only charge you a $2.00 flat rate for delivery, as well as the item price plus tax. Hotard and Kapatia are not out to gouge people for money; hence, their delivery rate is affordable for college students.
They travel anywhere from the UTSA main campus and Stone Oak area, awell as the 1604 area; however, they encourage customers to call from all locations around San Antonio, because they are expanding their delivery routes and are always open to accommodating order requests.
Hotard and said, “We are constantly adding to our inventory so we can better serve our customers. We encourage suggestions from our customers on our Web Site and will try to meet people's special requests whenever possible.”
So where do they purchase items and what items do they stock up on a weekly basis?
“At the moment, we have been able to avoid having to maintain much of an inventory. Based on our sales history, we buy items that we would expect to sell within only a matter of days. This keeps inventory costs down, and minimizes the need for a large amount of storage. We have an arrangement with a local wholesaler, and use Costco, Sam's and other discounters for some of our inventory,” Hotard said.
Hotard continues, “Surprisingly, Sundays and Wednesdays seem to be our busiest days of the week so far. It really fluctuates by the week though.”
In deciding what items to stock up on, Hotard said, “Our target market is college students living around campus so we try to cater to their needs.”
“We are still a fairly new business so our products and customer demands are constantly evolving. I would say our top five would be: Fantasia Shisha (Hookah Tobacco), Di Giorno pizza, Monster Energy Drinks, Sour Patch Candy, and Pong Balls/Party Cups.”
“Unfortunately, we currently do not have the necessary permits to deliver alcohol, but we hope to be able to one day soon,” Hotard said. And when that day comes (getting licensed) their customer base should boom indefinitely!
Their hours of operation are from 7 p.m. to 2 am Sunday through Thursday and Friday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Also, be sure to join their Facebook Fan Page at www.facebook.com/ThatDeliveryPlace.com to find out about special deals and promotions.
