In the previous article of Talk Tech, I mentioned some of the Mac OS X features which may be overlooked. This week, our fingers will do the talking–multitouch that is. MacBook’s and MacBook Pro’s have either a single button or no buttons at all on the trackpad.
Many have multi-touch functionality, which means rather than using one finger on the trackpad to move the mouse, one can use two fingers to zoom in and out, also the ability to rotate images and zoom in on photos to list a few.
A major drawback for Windows users who switch to a Mac is the lack of a right click button. Although the right click functionality seems to just disappear, its still available. To right click, hold down the “command” key and click or press on the trackpad with two fingers.
Rather than clicking on the sidebar of a website, place two fingers on the trackpad and move the fingers up and down. Some Windows laptops (depending on the age of the laptop and brand) have similar functionality such as the ability to touch and move ones finger up and down the trackpad on the right side, causing the website to scroll vertically.
In the newer Unibody MacBooks and Macbook Pros, sliding four fingers down will activate Expose (all open windows will fly backwards and appear at once). To leave Expose, slide four fingers up, or click on a desired window.
Listed are a few of the many functions of the trackpad on the Macbook and Macbook Pro laptops from Apple. Also, Snow Leopard is available for Intel based Macs. It costs only $29 and is available at the Apple store in La Cantera.
Until next time,
Hasta la Mac!
